Run together. Walk together. Let's CRUSH cancer together.
The Coaches vs. Cancer 5K unites runners, walkers, and supporters in the fight against cancer. What began as one man's mission to honor his mother and give back after his own cancer recovery has grown into a powerful community event raising tens of thousands of dollars each year for the American Cancer Society.
The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide partnership between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. In Philadelphia alone, this program has raised over $20 million since 1996 — funding groundbreaking research, patient support, and free lodging for patients and caregivers at Hope Lodge in Cheltenham.
Now entering its third year, the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer 5K has already raised more than $35,000 to fuel this mission. The 2026 race will be held on April 26 at Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer program.
Whether you're running, walking, fundraising, or cheering from the sidelines — every step brings us closer to a world without cancer.
"9 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Today I'm cancer-free. I started the 5K to support those battling cancer and raise money to find a cure."— Brian Campbell, Founder
